Joyato Lantern, Tomonoura
A lighthouse built in 1859 (Ansei 6) to guide ships in and out, the symbol of Tomonoura. Including the rounded stone base in the sea it is 12.1 m tall, the largest harbour lantern of its kind in Japan; it is lit at dusk.
