Koi Streets of Shimabara
Shimabara has long been called the "city of water", and the Shinmachi area is especially rich in spring water - dig 50 cm and it wells up. The neighbourhood association released koi into the clear streams to nurture children's sensibility and pass the springs on, and red-and-white, three-coloured and golden koi swimming in the water, kept beautiful by local residents, are one of the sights of Shimabara.
