Handa, Aichi / 新美南吉記念館
Niimi Nankichi Memorial Museum
A memorial literary museum for Niimi Nankichi, the Handa-born author of children's stories such as "Gongitsune", "Tebukuro wo Kaini" and "Ojiisan no Lamp". It has a permanent exhibition with his manuscripts, diaries, letters and dioramas of his works, and a library. Its wave-like roof covered with grass blends with the surrounding land and the Chita landscapes of his stories; the adjacent "Fairy Tale Forest" has walking paths.
