Handa Red Brick Building (Former Kabuto Beer Factory)
One of Japan's finest brick buildings, keeping the form of an early beer brewery. Built in 1898 as a beer factory, it was designed by Tsumaki Yorinaka, one of the three great architects of the Meiji period. Its hollow double walls and multi-arch floors are very rare today, and it is a registered Tangible Cultural Property and Heritage of Industrial Modernization. The beer "Kabuto Beer" won a gold medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition; at the cafe and beer hall "Re-BRICK" in the building you can drink draught Kabuto Beer.
