Nanatsugama Caves
A scenic spot and national natural monument, formed as basalt was eroded by the rough waves of the Genkai Sea: seven caves stand side by side in the deeply cut cliffs, with columnar joints in regular rows. The largest cave is 3 m wide at the mouth and 110 m deep, and when the waves allow, sightseeing boats go inside. The top is a grassland with an observatory and walking paths.

"Minato / Hadomisaki" bus from the Karatsu Otemachi bus center to Nanatsugama Iriguchi (34 minutes), then about 30 minutes on foot; 20 minutes by taxi from JR Karatsu Station.
