Ako, Hyogo / きらきら坂
Kirakira-zaka Slope
A romantic stone-paved path that slopes gently down to the Seto Inland Sea from the grounds of Iwatsuhime Shrine, with views of the calm sea from partway down and from the top. Its name is said to come from the blue sky, wide sea and white waves that sparkle as you walk down. At dusk the setting sun sparkles on the water. Cafes and restaurants are dotted around, and there are glass-making and salt-making workshops.
