Ako, Hyogo / 伊和都比売神社
Iwatsuhime Shrine
An old shrine dating from the Heian period, standing at the tip of Ako Misaki facing the sea; through the torii in front spreads a panorama of the sparkling Seto Inland Sea. Seasonal events include the Tondo festival in January, the Wakoshi festival in June with its grass ring, and lion dances at the autumn festival in October. From the shrine the colourful tiled "Kirakira-zaka" slope leads down to the sea.
