Chiran Peace Museum
Chiran (now Minamikyushu) is a place associated with the special attack (tokko) operations, unprecedented in human history, carried out at the end of World War II to reverse the losing battle of Okinawa. The museum displays belongings and materials of Army special attack corps members who crashed their bomb-laden planes into enemy ships, to pass on these historical facts correctly and contribute to lasting world peace; it teaches the misery of war and the value of peace and life so that such tragedy is never repeated.
