Yonago, Tottori / 米子城跡
Yonago Castle Ruins
A national historic site. No castle buildings remain, but the stone walls and foundation stones keep the castle's layout well, making it a valuable site for understanding its structure. When Nakamura Kazutada moved to Yonago in 1601, he added a five-storey main keep to the four-storey keep built by Kikkawa Hiroie, making it the finest castle in San'in; in the early Meiji period it was sold for a small sum, and only the stone walls remain. From the summit you see Mt. Daisen, the Shimane Peninsula, Nakaumi and the city of Yonago.
