Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design
A beautiful museum designed by the leading Japanese architect Hiroshi Naito, with a glass exterior built generously with Toyama timber and aluminium, in Fugan Unga Kansui Park. It shows modern and contemporary art from around the world, from early-20th-century masters such as Picasso and Chagall to surrealism and abstraction, works by leading Japanese and Toyama artists, and a design collection of posters and chairs. On the roof is the garden "Onomatopoeia Rooftop", by designer Taku Satoh.
