Healthy Land Open-air Bath "Tamatebako Onsen"
An open-air hot spring with a superb view, reopened after renewal on November 26, 2025. It has a Japanese-style bath overlooking the ocean and Mt. Kaimon and a Western-style bath with views of the strange rock Takeyama (also called "Snoopy Mountain") and the sea; in the bath you feel as if floating on the sea. The two baths alternate daily between men and women. There is also a cafe with local sweets, craft beer, Ibusuki hot-spring cider and "sume eggs" cooked in natural steam.

By car about 10 minutes from JR Yamakawa Station, about 15 minutes from JR Ibusuki Station, or about 60 minutes from Kagoshima IC (Kyushu Expressway) south on Route 226 via central Ibusuki; by Kagoshima Kotsu bus to the Tamatebako Onsen stop.
