Gamagori, Aichi / 竹島
Takeshima Island
The symbol of Gamagori: a small island about 680 m around in Mikawa Bay, about 400 m from shore and linked by Takeshima Bridge, which you can walk across. Surveys have found 238 species of higher plants in 65 families growing wild, and the island itself is a national natural monument. You can walk around it on paths and rocks in about 30 minutes. Yaotomi Shrine stands at its centre, and the Takeshima coast is a famous spot for sunrise.
