Kami, Kochi / 龍河洞
Ryugado Cave
A limestone cave about 4 km long (sightseeing course about 1 km), carved over a long time by rain falling on a basin near the summit, with a history of 175 million years; it is a national natural monument and historic site. Yayoi-period pottery and stone tools, including an ancient "pot of the gods", were found near the exit. Stalagmites and pillars stand inside, with lighting and sound renewed in summer 2019; on the bookable adventure courses you wear a helmet and headlamp and explore the darkness with a guide.
