Philosopher's Path
A walk of about 2 km between Ginkaku-ji and Nyakuoji Shrine near Nanzen-ji along a canal drawn from Lake Biwa, named after philosopher Nishida Kitaro who walked it every morning; the Kansetsu cherry trees along it were donated by painter Hashimoto Kansetsu.

From the north, take a city bus to Ginkakuji-michi (routes 7 and 5, or change from the subway to routes 204 or 203). From the south, about 20 minutes on foot from Keage Station (Tozai Line), or bus 5 to Nanzenji-Eikando-mae.
