Ouo Shrine Sea Torii
Three torii gates stand in the Ariake Sea off Sakaemachi in Tara. Legend says that about 300 years ago (around 1693) a magistrate stranded on an island was rescued by a great fish, and in gratitude he built "Ouo Shrine", named after the fish, with a torii about 200 m out in the sea from the shore. The custom of rebuilding the torii every 30 years is still carried on, and it is a popular photo spot.
