Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine
The head shrine of more than 280 Hikawa shrines in Saitama, Tokyo and Kanagawa, said to have a history of over 2,000 years; as the "great shrine" (Omiya) it gave the city its name. As Musashi Ichinomiya it draws worshippers from all over the Kanto region, and many come at New Year. The grounds cover about 30,000 tsubo, and the approach runs about 2 km from the first torii on the Nakasendo. The 13 m wooden second torii was donated and moved from Meiji Jingu.
