Japan Open-air Folk House Museum (Kawasaki)
A museum in the vast forest of Ikuta Ryokuchi where you can see 25 structures moved from around the country, mainly traditional houses of eastern Japan, including a watermill and a kabuki stage, all designated cultural properties. No power lines or buildings are in view, volunteers light the irori hearths in two to five houses each day, and indigo dyeing can be tried at the crafts hall (booking recommended).
