Kobe, Hyogo / 南京町
Nankinmachi (Kobe Chinatown)
One of Japan's three great Chinatowns, with Yokohama and Nagasaki, where Chinese restaurants and shops crowd an area about 270 m east to west and 110 m north to south. The streets were built by people who came from China when Kobe Port opened in the Meiji era, and events include the Spring Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Lantern Fair in December.
