Mt. Shiude
The Shonai Peninsula has many places linked to the Urashima legend; Mt. Shiude is known as where the white smoke from Urashima Taro's treasure box turned into purple clouds trailing over the mountain. About 1,000 cherry trees bloom in spring and hydrangeas in early summer, and from the summit observatory you can see the islands of the Seto Inland Sea.
