Mojiko Retro
A harbour area of Kitakyushu lined with historic buildings from the Meiji to early Showa periods. Mojiko, opened as a port in 1889 (Meiji 22), prospered as an international trade port; landmarks include Mojiko Station, the former Moji Mitsui Club and the "Blue Wing Moji" drawbridge looking over the Kanmon Strait, with cafes and restaurants serving local dishes such as yaki-curry. The buildings are lit up at night, and in winter the "Mojiko Retro Roman Tosai" illumination is held.
