Bungotakada, Oita / 真木大堂
Maki Odo Hall
Said to be one of the halls of Majikisan Denjo-ji, a "phantom great temple" that once flourished but burned down. It holds nine Buddhist statues that are Important Cultural Properties, notably the wooden Daiitoku Myoo riding a water buffalo, the largest in Japan, and a seated Amida from the Fujiwara period. Behind the hall is an "ancient park" where stone pagodas and Buddhas once scattered around the area were gathered to protect them.
