Wakasa, Fukui / 熊川宿（鯖街道）
Kumagawa-juku Post Town (Saba Kaido)
An important post town on the road from Wakasa to Kyoto, which kept growing from 1589. The sites of the magistrate's office, checkpoint and storehouse remain, and old water channels run along the road. It is a nationally selected Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and in 2015 the Saba Kaido including Kumagawa-juku was recognised as Japan Heritage.
