Homangu Kamado Shrine
A shrine with over 1,350 years of history at the foot of Mt. Homan, long revered as a sacred mountain. It is said to have begun when, after defeat at the Battle of Baekgang in 663, Emperor Tenji moved Dazaifu for defence and enshrined the myriad gods on Mt. Homan, which lay in the "kimon" (demon gate) direction. The lower shrine is at the foot and the upper shrine on the summit; it is the entrance to the Mt. Homan climb and known for cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves.
