Toyooka, Hyogo / 玄武洞公園
Genbudo Park
A park designated a national natural monument, with scenery created by volcanic activity about 1.6 million years ago. Its highlight is columnar jointing, countless hexagonal columns formed as magma cooled; besides Genbudo cave there are four other caves (Seiryudo, Byakkodo, Kita-Suzakudo and Minami-Suzakudo), and the neighbouring Genbudo Museum explains how it formed.
