Arita Sera
An area of Arita-ware shops on a hill about 5 minutes by car from Arita Station. On about 20,000 tsubo, 22 shops deal in everyday tableware, gifts, restaurant ware and fine art ceramics, with galleries, a hotel and restaurants; outlet items and bargains make it feel like a small pottery fair any time. The "chawan mikoshi", a portable shrine made of colourful bowls, is its symbol, and some shops also sell Hasami ware from neighbouring Nagasaki.
