Amano Yasukawara
A great cave about 10 minutes on foot along the Iwato River from the Nishi Hongu of Amano Iwato Shrine, a setting of Japanese myth: it is said that when the sun goddess Amaterasu hid in the rock cave, the countless gods gathered here to discuss how to bring back the light. Also called "Gyobo-ga-iwaya", countless stones piled by people making prayers heighten its mysterious atmosphere.
