Sakamoto Ryoma Statue
A bronze statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, the late-Edo patriot who opened the way to modern Japan, standing on Cape Ryuzu at Katsurahama. It is 5.3 m tall, 13.5 m including the pedestal, and was built in the early Showa era with funds raised by young volunteers of Kochi. By Motoyama Hakuun, it shows Ryoma in kimono with his hands tucked in and wearing boots, gazing at the Pacific.
