Otori Taisha Shrine
The first shrine of Izumi Province, enshrining Yamato Takeru-no-mikoto, and listed as a Myojin Taisha in the Engishiki register completed in 927. Legend says that about 1,900 years ago the spirit of Yamato Takeru became a great white bird and the shrine was founded where it finally landed; the sacred grove is called "Chigusa no Mori".
