Daisen Park Japanese Garden
A Japanese garden of 26,000 square metres. In the Middle Ages Sakai flourished as a base of overseas trade, and the garden techniques that became the source of Japanese gardens are said to have arrived at that time. The garden uses traditional techniques in the "tsukiyama rinsen kaiyu" stroll style and has three landscapes: the southern upland "Togendai", the "Ishizu-kei" stream flowing from south to north, and the northern lowland. Through the cypress gate are a rest house modelled on the "Nayashu" meeting place of Sakai merchants, the "Ryuhaitei" with a winding stream carved from stone from Huaguo Mountain in China, "Togendai" for outdoor tea and bonsai shows, and along the stream the "Kasatei" pavilion.
