Numazu, Shizuoka / 沼津港大型展望水門びゅうお
Numazu Port Observation Floodgate "View-o"
A floodgate built by Shizuoka Prefecture to protect Numazu Port from tsunami; in a disaster the gate comes down to stop a tsunami entering the port. Its observation facility 30 m above the ground gives a 360-degree panorama of Suruga Bay, Cape Osezaki, Senbon Matsubara and Mt. Fuji, and you can see the bustle of the fish market, passing boats and the gate's winding machinery. At night the gate is lit up.

From bus stop 0 at the south exit of Numazu Station (JR Tokaido Line), Izuhakone bus about 10 minutes to Numazu-ko; by car about 20 minutes from the Tomei Expressway (about 25 minutes from Numazu IC), about 25 minutes from the Shin-Tomei Expressway.
