Mishima Taisha Shrine
The first shrine of Izu Province, with a history of over a thousand years, where Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed for the revival of the Minamoto clan. The main hall of plain zelkova (Important Cultural Property) is among the largest in Japan, the treasures include the National Treasure lacquer box dedicated by Hojo Masako, and a fragrant olive over 1,200 years old is a natural monument; cherry trees bloom in spring.
