Naruto Whirlpools
The Naruto Strait, only 1.3 km wide between Magosaki in Naruto and Kadosaki on Awaji Island: the tides of the Seto Inland Sea and the Kii Channel create a difference in water level here, producing a fierce current and powerful whirlpools up to about 20 m across.
