Niimi, Okayama / 満奇洞
Makido Cave
A limestone cave about 450 m long, a prefectural natural monument. It got its name, Makido, after the poets Yosano Tekkan and Akiko described it in 1929 as "a cave full of wonders". The quiet cave is lit with colourful LEDs; highlights are the "Ryugu Bridge" over the lake at the far end and the "Senmaida", one of Japan's finest rimstone formations.
