Takahashi, Okayama / 広兼邸
Hirokane Residence
The residence of the Hirokane family, village headmen of Onoro who made a huge fortune around 1800 from the Koizumi copper mine and the production of "roha" (iron sulphate). Built at the end of the Edo period in the gate-tower style, its imposing stone walls, rivalling a castle, still show the family's wealth. It has been a location for films such as "Yatsuhakamura" (1977), "Moeyo Ken" (2021) and "Suneshuri no Mori" (2026).
