Kanzaki, Saga / 九年庵
Kunenan
A national place of scenic beauty known for its autumn leaves, originally the villa of the Saga businessman Itami Yataro. Its name comes from being built over nine years from 1900 (Meiji 33) under the guidance of the Jodo Shinshu priest Hotori. The sukiya-style house and a garden borrowing the view of the Tsukushi Plain are planted with azaleas and maples, with native trees and a carpet of moss. It used to open to the public for only nine days in mid-November, and now also opens in the fresh-green season.
