Kawaramachi District, Gifu
A river port where merchants came and went from the time of Oda Nobunaga, with latticed townhouses, a round red postbox and lanes between tall black storehouse walls. Many townhouses and storehouses have become shops, from Italian and Chinese restaurants to cafes and sundries, and there are Gifu souvenirs such as grilled ayu, ayu sweets and Gifu fans. It is right by the cormorant-fishing boat landing.
