Takamori, Kumamoto / 上色見熊野座神社
Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
A shrine whose scenery, like "an entrance to another world", became a talking point on social media. 97 stone lanterns line the approach to the shrine, and sunlight falls into the moss-green world. Beyond the shrine, up a steeper slope, is "Ugetoiwa", a huge 10 m hole in the rock that legend says was kicked through by Kihachi Hoshi, a follower of Takeiwatatsu no Mikoto.
