Yamanouchi, Nagano / 地獄谷野猿公苑
Jigokudani Monkey Park
A facility for watching Japanese macaques in an environment close to nature, deep in the mountains. The monkeys are wild and not caged; the park gathers them by feeding, and some days they do not appear at all. Bathing in the hot spring is only one of their ways to survive the harsh winter cold - they are not in it all day, all year.
