Chizu, Tottori / 石谷家住宅
Ishitani Residence
The largest building in Chizu-juku, which prospered as the largest post town of the Tottori domain in the Edo period, facing the Chizu road. It has 40 rooms around a vast Japanese garden and 7 storehouses; rebuilt over 10 years from the Taisho period, the house, harmonising various styles, is a masterpiece of modern Japanese architecture and a national Important Cultural Property. Four of the storehouses are open as a museum and archive.
