Hozanji Temple
Originally opened as a place of mountain ascetic practice by En no Gyoja and Kukai, the temple was revived in 1678 by Hozan Tankai, who enshrined Kangiten. Against a great rock face called the Hannya Cave stand the main hall, Shoten hall, Tahoto pagoda and ema hall, and the Shishikaku (Important Cultural Property), with its coloured glass, was built in 1884 as a guest house. It is known as a temple of popular faith, affectionately called "Ikoma no Shoten-san".
