Funakawa Riverbank Red Spider Lilies
In late September a red carpet of spider lilies spreads over about 600 m of the embankment under the Funakawa cherry tree avenue. A farmer behind the spring "Asahi Funakawa Spring Quartet" proposed making it a flower spot in autumn too, and with about 60 local residents about 30,000 bulbs were planted over three years from 2016; residents also maintain the slope, including mowing that takes two full days.
