Beppu Jigoku Meguri (Hells of Beppu)
In the Kannawa and Kamegawa districts of Beppu are seven "hells" where steam and hot water from the springs burst out of the ground: Umi, Oniishi-bozu, Kamado, Oniyama, Shiraike, Chinoike and Tatsumaki Jigoku. Umi, Shiraike, Chinoike and Tatsumaki Jigoku are national places of scenic beauty, and a regular sightseeing bus goes round the hells.
