Kaga, Ishikawa / 山代温泉 古総湯
Yamashiro Onsen Kososoyu
A reconstruction of the Meiji-era soyu (public bathhouse), the symbol of the "yu-no-kuruwa" of Yamashiro Onsen. It has a shingled roof and second-floor windows, and inside, stained glass that was cutting-edge at the time casts bright light on the bath, the walls are wiped lacquer and the tiles are Kutani ware faithfully reproducing the original patterns. To keep the bathing style of the time there are no taps or showers: you pour water over yourself and get into the bath. The water flows straight from the source.
