Kofu, Yamanashi / 武田神社
Takeda Shrine
A shrine dedicated to Takeda Shingen, the warlord of Kai Province. It was founded in 1919 on the site of Tsutsujigasaki Yakata (the Takeda clan residence), where three generations of the Takeda, Nobutora, Shingen and Katsuyori, governed for more than 60 years. The moats, earthen walls, stone walls and old wells of that time remain, and the treasure hall displays armour, helmets and swords linked to the Takeda, including the sword inscribed "Ichi", an Important Cultural Property. Trees donated from all over the prefecture change with the seasons.

10 minutes by bus from JR Kofu Station to the "Takeda Jinja" stop, right by the shrine; 10 minutes by car from Kofu Station; about 30 minutes from Kofu-Showa IC or about 35 minutes from Ichinomiya-Misaka IC on the Chuo Expressway.
