A mountain onsen at about 900 m in Hakkoda, famous for the "Hiba Sennin-buro", a 160-tatami mixed bath built entirely of hiba wood.

Until Nov 30, 2026: Hiba Sennin-buro (mixed) 7:00-18:00 (last entry 17:30; women only 8:00-9:00); Tama-no-yu (separate for men and women) 9:00-17:00 (last entry 16:30). From Dec 1, 2026: 9:00-16:00 (last entry 15:30) for both baths.

Admission

Until Nov 30, 2026: adults 1,000 yen, elementary 500 yen (towel included). From Dec 1, 2026: adults (junior high and above) 1,500 yen, elementary 500 yen, preschool free (bath towel loan and a face towel to keep). Six-bath ticket 5,000 yen (can be shared; not for tour groups).

Getting there

JR bus to "Sukayu Onsen-mae": about 1 hr 10 min from the east exit of Aomori Station, 1 hr 20 min from Shin-Aomori Station, 1 hr 30 min from Lake Towada (Yasumiya). By car about 40 min from Aomori-Chuo IC, 50 min from Aomori IC, 45 min from Kuroishi IC, and about 1 hour from Aomori Airport (no direct bus). Taxi from central Aomori about 45 min, about 7,000-8,000 yen. The free shuttle is for overnight guests only.
