Shirakawa, Gifu / 野外博物館 合掌造り民家園
Gassho-zukuri Minka-en Open-air Museum
An open-air museum preserving and showing 22 buildings, including 9 designated Gifu Prefecture Important Cultural Properties; besides farmhouses there are a shrine, a temple main hall and a watermill, and you can see the houses right up into the roof space. From April to October there are paid workshops such as soba making and straw crafts (booking required).
