Okayama Korakuen Garden
A large garden built by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the second lord of the Okayama domain, as his own place of rest; its spacious grounds coloured by seasonal flowers are another world like the Edo period. It was designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty in 1952 and has three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. Events such as tea picking and moon viewing are held through the year, and for limited periods the garden opens at night with lighting, the "Genso Teien".
