Okayama Forest Park Doitsu no Mori

A theme park in green surroundings modelled on a German farming village. Rape blossoms, tulips and nemophila in spring, sunflowers in summer and cosmos in autumn bloom against European-style buildings. There are grass sledding, go-karts, pedal boats and a 10 m swing, milking Jersey cows and petting alpacas, goats, ponies, mini pigs and rabbits, and German food such as homemade sausages, stone-oven bread and local beer. There is also a dog run of about 5,000 m2 (free) and a winery.

Getting there: About 30 minutes by car from Sanyo IC or about 50 minutes from Wake IC (Sanyo Expressway), or about 40 minutes from Mimasaka IC (Chugoku Expressway); bus for Neopolis Higashi 6 from JR Okayama Station, about 30 minutes to Shindo-Hozaki, change to the bus for Hayashino Station, about 30 minutes to Nihori-shimo, then about 20 minutes on foot; or about 35 minutes by taxi from JR Seto Station.
