Namahage Museum 8:30-17:00. Shinzan Folklore Museum demonstrations (daily): Apr-Nov at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 13:30, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, 15:30, 16:00 and 16:30; Dec-Mar at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30 (extra sessions on Dec 31 and Jan 1-2). Allow about 30 min each for the museum, the folklore museum and Shinzan Shrine.

Admission

Namahage Museum 660 yen (school students 330 yen); groups of 15+: 590 yen (260 yen). Combined ticket with the folklore museum 1,100 yen (school students 660 yen); 15+: 1,000 yen (530 yen); 30+: 900 yen (450 yen). A ticket for the folklore museum alone is not listed on this page.

Getting there

By car about 40 min from Showa-Oga-Hanto IC via Route 101. By train, JR Oga Line from Akita Station to Oga Station (55 min), then the "Namahage Shuttle" (about 25 min, advance booking required). Local buses need a change between the Oga-Kita and Anzenji lines (see the Oga City website for times).

Parking

Cars should use Car Park 2 or Car Park 3 (No. 2 is closer, No. 3 is larger). In a car navigation system, search for "Namahagekan Dai-ni Chushajo" or "Dai-san Chushajo".
