Nakatajima Sand Dunes
Sand dunes stretching about 4 km east to west along the Enshu Sea, said to be one of Japan's three great dunes and used as a location for many films and dramas. The wind creates "fumon" ripple patterns in the sand, the sunsets are striking, and loggerhead turtles, an endangered species, nest here from early to high summer.
